5 Things Couples Forget On Their Wedding Day But Shouldn’t

Your wedding day is a whirlwind of excitement and anticipation and it's easy to overlook important details. Even the most organized brides can forget crucial elements that can impact the smooth running of the day. In this article, I’ll talk about five commonly forgotten items that can make a big difference on your special day.

Pre-wedding food

Alright, let's talk about pre-wedding food. Listen up, because this is a biggie on our wedding checklist: You absolutely cannot, and I mean CANNOT, skip breakfast on your big day. Sure, you might have a whole swarm of butterflies fluttering around in your stomach, but trust me, you do not want to walk down that aisle on an empty stomach. Delegate the task to a family member or bridesmaid and make sure you fuel up for the day.

De-clutter the getting ready space

A clutter-free zone is a game-changer, especially for those getting ready photos. Not only does it make everything run smoother, but it also ensures your photographer can snap those moments without tripping over random stuff. So, before the big day, take a sec to tidy up—it'll make a world of difference in keeping the vibe chill and the memories sharp.

Bridal Emergency Kit

Having photographed many weddings in Winnipeg, I’ve seen a lot of scrambling when unexpected emergencies come up. It’s hard to anticipate everything that may come your way on your wedding day so having an emergency kit filled with everything to avoid total disasters is a smart move. Collect things from around your house, and ask bridesmaids or trusted family members to bring some as well. That’s another great way to ensure that nothing is forgotten!

Extra pair of shoes

If you're rocking those wedding heels, props to you, but let's be honest—they're not exactly known for their comfort. So, here's the deal: stash a pair of flats, flip flops, (even Converse!) for when the dancing kicks off or for when the night is over. Trust me, after a few hours of standing and mingling, you'll be wanting to ditch the fancy shoes for something a bit more cozy.

Swapping my heels for comfy flats during the reception was the best decision ever! I danced the night away without a care in the world, and my feet thanked me for it.

Speeches

If you have friends or family saying a speech at your wedding, tell them to come prepared! Multiple copies of the text are a must—hand them over to your wedding planner or a trusted friend/family member. And hey, in this digital age, let's not forget the power of email! Make sure those speeches are sent electronically too, just to cover all bases.

So, there you have it, my fellow brides-to-be! As you gear up for your special day, remember these little details that often slip through the cracks. From de-cluttering your getting-ready space to stocking up on emergency essentials and swapping out those heels for something more dance-friendly, it's the small touches that can make all the difference. So take a deep breath, enjoy every moment, and rest assured knowing that you've got everything covered. Here's to a wedding day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories!

Cheers to you, bride tribe!
